History of Shireburne House
By choosing to stay in one of our apartments, you’ll be joining the history of this 19th century Victorian Manor House.
Built in 1892, Shireburne House was built as the home of newlyweds Newstead and Caroline Garnett, after moving from their home at Waddow Hall. You can still see the beautiful stained glass that bears their initials, and casts a rainbow of light over the stairs.
In 2013, the descendents of Caroline and Newstead visited us for a family reunion. Miles Garnett, grandson to the couple, kindly showed us some photographs which gave us insight into how the house operated as a family home.
